MN Reports 954 New COVID Cases/4 Deaths

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired a third-round selection in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Ryan Donato.     Donato, 24, collected 23 points (14-9=23) in 62 games with Minnesota last season and owns 57 points (29-28=57) in 130 career NHL games with Boston and the Wild.     Minnesota Wild currently owns six picks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, including the ninth overall selection. The 2020 NHL Entry Draft will be held virtually on Tuesday, Oct. 6 and Wednesday, Oct. 7. The first round begins live at 6 p.m. (CT) on Oct. 6 on NBC Sports Network and rounds 2-7 will take place on Oct. 7 starting at 10:30 a.m. (CT) on the NHL Network.

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed forward Nico Sturm to a two-year, $1.45 million contract ($725,000 AAV).    Sturm, 25 (5/3/95), notched two assists in six regular season games with Minnesota in 2019-20. He made his season debut on Dec. 17 at Vegas and recorded his first career NHL point with an assist at Arizona on Dec. 19. Sturm made his Stanley Cup Playoff debut in Game 3 of the Qualifying Round series against Vancouver on August 6 and tallied his first career NHL goal in Game 4 on August 7 to become the second player in franchise history to record his first career NHL goal in the playoffs (Jordan Greenway). He recorded 32 points (12-20=32), 18 penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-9 rating in 55 games with the Iowa Wild in the American Hockey League (AHL) last season. Sturm ranked second on the team with four game-winning goals, fifth in scoring and T-5th in plus/minus rating. The 6-foot-3, 206-pound native of Augsburg, Germany, led team rookies in goals and scoring and ranked T-11th in goals and T-12th in scoring amongst AHL rookies.    He led Clarkson University in scoring and assists with 45 points (14-31=45) in 39 games and won 392-of-677 face-offs taken (57.9%) as a junior in 2018-19. Sturm was named the ECAC Hockey Best Defensive Forward for the second consecutive season, a Top Ten Hobey Baker Award Finalist, a finalist for the ECAC Hockey Player of the Year Award, to the 2019 ECAC Hockey All-Tournament Team and an ECAC First-Team All-League selection in 2018-19. He collected 103 points (36-67=103) and was a plus-47 in 118 games during three seasons at Clarkson University (2016-19).    Sturm has collected two assists in eight career NHL games with the Wild. He signed as a free agent with Minnesota on April 1, 2019, and made his NHL debut on April 4, 2019 vs. Boston. 

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has re-signed defenseman Carson Soucy (SOO-see) to a three-year, $8.25 million contract ($2.75 million AAV) that goes through the 2022-23 season.     Soucy, 26 (7/27/94), registered 14 points (7-7=14), a plus-16 rating, 18 penalty minutes (PIM), 69 hits and 61 shots on goal in 55 games during his first full season with Minnesota in 2019-20. He also appeared in all four Stanley Cup Playoff games. The 6-foot-5, 210-pound blueliner set a franchise record for plus/minus rating by a rookie and his goal and point totals ranked fourth in team history by a rookie defenseman. He ranked T-4th amongst NHL rookies in plus/minus rating and fourth amongst NHL rookie defensemen in goals. Soucy led the team in plus/minus rating and ranked fifth in hits. The native of Viking, Alberta, recorded his first career NHL point with an assist vs. Edmonton (Oct. 22), netted his first career goal vs. Arizona (Nov. 16), tallied his first career game-winning goal at Florida (Dec. 3), registered a goal in consecutive games for his first career NHL goal/point streak (Dec. 3-5) and notched a shorthanded goal vs. PHI (Dec. 14) to become the fourth rookie and sixth defenseman in franchise history to record a SHG. The left-shot blueliner owns 14 points (7-7=14) in 58 career games with Minnesota and has appeared in eight career Stanley Cup Playoff contests with the Wild. He made his NHL debut vs. Edmonton on April 2, 2018.    Soucy collected 35 points (6-29=35), a plus-20 rating, 128 PIM and 167 shots in 136 career games with the Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League (AHL) in three seasons (2016-19) and tallied two assists in 11 Calder Cup Playoff contests during the 2018-19 campaign. Soucy skated in four seasons with the University of Minnesota-Duluth of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, totaling 47 points (12-35=47), a plus-31 rating and 216 PIM in 147 games (2013-17). He served as assistant captain and was named to the NCHC All-Academic Team during his senior season (2016-17).    Soucy was selected by Minnesota in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Wild General Manager Bill Guerin today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired a fifth-round selection in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for goaltender Devan Dubnyk and the Wild’s seventh-round selection in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.     Dubnyk, 34, went 12-15-2 with a 3.35 goals-against average (GAA), a .890 save percentage (SV%) and one shutout in 30 games with Minnesota in 2019-20. He posted a record of 177-113-28 with a 2.41 GAA, a .918 SV% and 23 shutouts in 328 career contests with the Wild from 2014-2020. In 2015, Dubnyk won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy, finished third in Vezina Trophy voting and fourth in Hart Trophy voting and was named to the NHL’s Second All-Star Team. Dubnyk is 247-195-52 with a 2.58 GAA, a .915 SV% and 32 shutouts in 520 career NHL games with Edmonton, Nashville, Arizona and Minnesota.    Minnesota Wild currently owns six picks in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, including the ninth overall selection.
